Barbara Perry

Mrs Barbara Perry was elected to the NSW Parliament in late 2001. Mrs Perry - whose father left Kfarsghab at 16 years of age with "little more than the clothes on his back" - is the first female Lebanese-Australian to take on such a role.

Was born in 1924 and has lived in Australia all his life. His father bought a woolbroking firm named McGuire Bros. in Goulbourn and thus the name Muffarrij became McGuire. He grew up in Queensland where he went to high school.
