Dr Labeeb Isaac McGuire

Was born in 1924 and has lived in Australia all his life. His father bought a woolbroking firm named McGuire Bros. in Goulbourn and thus the name Muffarrij became McGuire. He grew up in Queensland where he went to high school. Aged 21, in 1946 he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. In 1960 he married Ruth Rennie and had 3 sons.
The following is a list of his remarkable achievements:
*1956 - Surgical Registrar at the Royal Brisbane Hospital
*1956- Obtained his FRCS from England
*1957-84- Visiting surgeon at the Royal Brisbane Hospital
*1970-83- Lectured in surgery at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Queensland
*1973- Obtained his FRACS
*1968-77- Lectured at the Australian College of Nursing
*1978-84- Lecturer in surgical anatomy at the Queensland Institute of Technology
*1959-70- Lecturer in surgical nursing at Royal Brisbane Hospital
*1957-84- Tutor in clinical surgery, University of Queensland
*1957-65- Demonstrator in surgical anatomy, University of Queensland
*1957-68- Director of the postgraduate medical education committee at the Univ. Queensland
He published the surgical history of the Royal Brisbane Hospital before he retired from the Hospital in 1984 and from private practice in 1997.
